Schwinn Crest Urban Men’s Hybrid Bike, Includes All The Bells And Whistles!

Comfort and speed is the bench mark when it comes to the Hybrid Bicycle. Comfort and ease, stableness and a multiple gear setting allow it to be fun and easy to get around. Putting together the bicycle was uncomplicated, front wheel, handle bar, pedals and seat. After that, I pumped the bike tires to their appropriate air pressure as well as adjusted the seat for a more comfortable fit. Pedaling up inclines has not been less difficult and I do not even have to stand up. The brakes are responsive and smooth.

The Schwinn Crest Urban Men’s Hybrid Bike will provide you with a delightfully even ride regardless of whether you are making your way to school, work or even merely enjoying the trip! This bicycle is fitted with a 17 inch aluminum hybrid frame as well as an SR Suntour front suspension fork which will help your bike hold up to shocks whenever you’re riding on bumpy, rough terrain. You will get a variety of gear options for flat or hilly rides with the Shimano TX-31 rear derailleur and SRAM 21-speed grip shifters.

The 700cc rims and 700 x 38c hybrid tires are thinner than mountain bicycle tires yet sturdier compared to many road bike options therefore this Schwinn hybrid bike can tackle a hard ride. An alloy adjustable stem and 30mm rise comfort bar along along with the alloy linear pull brakes are some other fantastic features on this bike.

There are numerous terrific features on this hybrid bike like you would probably expect from any bicycle with the Schwinn name. Schwinn is a name that symbolizes the top quality and uniqueness of their merchandise. They’ve manufactured a multitude of bicycles which are well-known and cherished for numerous generations. It’s merely one illustration of high-quality in a bicycle that will take on the tough surfaces you desire to ride on.

It works off road, it works on roads, it is more comfortable and it is at a great price. I do not fully understand exactly how you would likely build a much better bike at this price structure. The Schwinn Crest Urban Men’s Hybrid Bike is large, thus you can not expect to win any iron man contests with it, yet for a daily commuter, or for week-ends in the park, it is ideal. This is one more fantastic bicycle from Schwinn!

Mount Panorama Circuit

The Circuit

The Pit Straight

The Pit straight of Mount Panorama, which is adjacent to the pit complex, has a different start line and finish line. For the standing start only, the start line is 143m closer to Hell Corner so that all the pit bays are located after the finish line for lap counting purposes. The start line is located where it is so that traffic does not go too far around Murray’s Corner when the start grid is formed.

Hell Corner

The common misperception of nomenclature due to the accidents that happen at this turn are widespread. Hell Corner was so named after the tree stump that existed on the apex of turn one, it was believed that any motor bike riders who hit the stump would die in an act of folly and thereby be doomed to an eternity of death having no time to repent of their sin.

Mountain Straight

Mountain Straight is a long straight that begins the climb up the mountain towards Griffins Bend. V8 Supercars reach speeds up to 250km/h (155mph) as drivers race over the crest immediately prior to braking for Griffins Bend. In the days before modern aerodynamics, drivers would have to lift off the throttle to prevent becoming airborne over the crest halfway up the straight.

Griffins Bend

Also known as GTX Bend (the corner’s first sponsor), Griffins Bend was named after the Mayor of Bathurst whose vision it was to create the scenic road/race-track. Drivers heading around this right-hander have to be careful not to drift too far out of this negatively-cambered turn and hit the wall upon exit.

The Cutting

Referred to for many years as “BP Cutting”, this is a pair of left hand corners, leading into a steep 1:6 grade exit. Overtaking is virtually impossible here, and it is very hard to recover from a spin here because of the narrow room and steep gradient. This corner was the location of the infamous ‘race rage’ incident between Marcos Ambrose and Greg Murphy, after Murphy and Ambrose collided when both drivers refused to give the other “racing room” during the 2005 Supercheap Auto 1000, Ambrose’s last before he moved to the United States for racing. Murphy then disappeared into a resident’s house to view the replays on TV before returning to the pits.[citation needed]

Reid Park

After exiting the Cutting, drivers have a right hand turn, heading up, then into a left hand turn. This is Reid Park. The most famous incident in the history of the Bathurst 1000[citation needed] was here when Dick Johnson crashed his Ford Falcon in the early laps of the 1980 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 race avoiding a large rock that had fallen from the spectator area. The car was destroyed, taking with it Johnson’s means of supporting his racing ambitions. An emotional public appeal followed during the race’s telecast which re-launched Johnson’s career and restored flagging public interest[citation needed] in touring car racing.

Sulman Park

After Reid Park, drivers brave a steep drop, flowing into a climbing left hand turn, heading back towards the highest point of Mount Panorama. This is also the location of Sulman Park and its Nature Park. Jason Bright crashed here in his Ford Falcon in practice during the 1998 FAI 1000, then saw the car rebuilt in time to scrape into qualifying in the dying minutes before Bright and Steven Richards went on to victory. This corner was also the scene of a shocking crash in a support race in 2006 that claimed the life of Mark Porter.

McPhillamy Park

McPhillamy Park is a downhill, deceptively fast left hand turn which is guarded by a crest prior to turn-in, rendering the corner blind to approaching drivers. Drivers have to stay close to the wall while turning so as not to go out wide upon exit. To go too close however may cause the car to clip the inside kerbing, which Allan Moffat famously did in practice for the 1986 James Hardie 1000, crashing heavily, head on to the concrete. McPhillamy Park is the location of longest running campsite for those who camp at the track for sometimes over a week ahead of the race.

Brock Skyline

A short straight connects McPhillamy to the next corner. Now named ‘Brock’s Skyline’ after the legendary Peter Brock, Skyline is a sharply descending right hand corner which signifies the beginning of the descent from the top of the Mountain. The corner acquired the name from the visual effect of looking upwards at the corner from below, such is the sharpness of that initial plunge. During the 1970 Hardie-Ferodo 500 Tony Roberts launched over Skyline backwards after losing control of his Ford Falcon, before tumbling down the hillside.

The Esses

The Esses are the series of corners which begin at Skyline and stretch down the Mountain towards Forrests Elbow. There have been many notable accidents at this part of the circuit, including a blockage of the track in 2003 when Jason Bargwanna made contact with David Brabham.

The Dipper

The most famous of the Esses, the Dipper, the fourth in the sequence, is a sharp left hand corner, so named because, before safety changes, there was quite a dip in the road surface and then a steep drop not far from the edge of the road. Many cars used to get two wheels off the ground, sometimes having their left front wheel dangling off the side of the track before the concrete walls were put up.

Forrest’s Elbow

The summit, looking from Forrest’s Elbow to Skyline and beyond.

‘The Elbow’ named after Jack Forrest, a motorcycle racer who scraped his elbow away after laying down his bike is a slow, descending left-hand turn that leads on to the long Conrod Straight. The corner’s line drifts towards the outside wall on exit and drivers have to be careful of getting too close. It was just past here,at the kink, during the pole qualifying session (the top ten drivers from Friday’s qualifying session participate in a final session to determine the top ten starting positions for the race) for to the 1983 James Hardie 1000, that Dick Johnson clipped a tyre barrier just after exiting the corner, which sent his Ford Falcon careening into a grove of trees, totally demolishing it.

Even A Chicken Can Get Lasik Surgery

If you take the time to read any of the message boards or chat rooms on the Internet about Lasik surgery, you will wonder how anyone could get the courage to schedule a Lasik procedure, and why on earth they would want it. The various Lasik clinics sound anywhere from impersonal to something similar to Dr. Frankenstein’s lab, and the Lasik procedure itself sounds, well, surreal. It seems like the only people that would get Lasik are those with such bad vision that they cannot get out of bed without their glasses on.

Well, let me give you my story of how I chose Lasik. First of all, my vision is not good, but not terrible either. I can actually go to movies and see well enough to enjoy the film without glasses, but I need glasses to drive in order to read the street signs far enough away to act on the information. So for me, Lasik was not necessary, but I figured would simplify my life. I am outdoors very frequently, backpack at Ebay and Amazoning, climbing hills, and mountain biking. Glasses do not last long with me, and I am frequently grinding into the dirt which is not the best situation for contact lenses. For these reasons, Lasik looked very appealing.

The paragraph above might make you think I am a “manly guy” (hope so, think so!), so why on earth would I be afraid of a little Lasik scalpel? OK, technically Lasik does NOT use a scalpel but rather a “microkeratome blade”, but it is still a sharp object approaching my eye as part of the Lasik procedure. Nowadays Lasik physicians can get a laser to cut the flap in the eye, which is more than a little better than a sharp blade. But anyway, I had too many spills in my life to think any sharp object nearing my eye was a good idea, even under the skilled hands of a Lasik physician.

After talking with three (yes, three!) independent Lasik physicians, they each assured me that a 28 year old guy in nearly perfect health (OK, I exaggerate a bit) with moderate nearsightedness was one of the very best candidates for a successful Lasik procedure. I decided to schedule my Lasik procedure with the one that had the best track record, and coincidentally took the most time to explain everything about Lasik to me.

The Lasik surgery was not painful, though I accepted nearly everything they offered to give me comfort, including a sedative and a teddy bear. (I even went back to take a picture of me and the Lasik comforting teddy bear.) The only strange thing I remember about the Lasik procedure itself was a smell, something vaguely like hair burning. I suppose that was my eye. I am kind of glad they didn’t tell me to expect that before the Lasik procedure, I am not sure I would have gone in.

After a few years, I guess I was a nearly perfect Lasik client, as my eyes now have 20/20 vision and have remained stable long after the Lasik operation. I say that if you are a good candidate for a Lasik vision correction procedure, grab that teddy bear and go on in.

Choosing Between Novelty And Dot Rated Helmets

Motorcycle helmets, due to new and/or existing laws in most states, have become a necessity for an increasing number of riders across the country. Whether getting geared up for the first time or abiding to new motorcycle helmet laws, many riders are being faced with a vexing question; What is the right helmet for me? Answering this question to come up with the best overall solution requires accounting for the following factors:

* Safety requirements The requirement for a safe motorcycle helmet can be the result of a host of factors including riding experience, types of riding, and the need for speed. When considering riding experience, defaulting to a safer motorcycle helmet for new riders is a logical choice, regardless of anticipated riding activities. In these situations, go with motorcycle helmets carrying a Department of Transportation (DOT) rating. In fact, helmets that do not meet the minimal DOT certification standards may not be sold as “motorcycle helmets” at all. DOT certified helmet versions are made with an inner liner that provides critical head protection in the event of a crash. The Snell Memorial Foundation is an additional certification source intended on providing testing standards and “Snell” certification to a different standard than the DOT specifications. It should be noted that the Snell standards do not replace the DOT standards; meeting Snell standards is completely voluntary.

* Off road and need for speed riders – These higher risk activities necessitate wearing sportbike helmets which can provide safety in the event of a crash. Going with a full face helmet is considered to carry the highest safety measures in terms of total protection due to its total coverage of the head of the rider. Vega Motorcycle Helmets offers a complete line of full face helmets as well as a host of other selections including open and half face models. The full face helmet is also able to block wind, debris, and dirt which can minimize distractions. Whether going with an open or full face motorcycle helmet, off-road and need for speed riders should also consider DOT certified helmets due to the dangers inherent in each type of ride. While many consider the mandatory helmet laws a nuisance, its an undisputed fact that numerous lives have been saved by DOT certified helmets.

* Cruising and low risk riding While DOT certified motorcycle helmets can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, novelty helmets due to minimal safety requirements, can come in just about any shape imaginable including German, Classic USA, and Polo styles. Novelty helmets, made essentially for appearance, are usually made without an inner lining, but still have some padding. The lack of inner lining means that there really is no protective value to the helmet other than the outer shell, which is totally acceptable when cruising or engaging in cruising or other low risk rides.

Preventing Flat Tires: What Cyclists Should Watch Out For

Repairing a flat tire might be tiring, especially if it occurs all the time. You”re happily traversing the road, slightly glancing on the lovely views, feeling the breeze of the wind brush on your face when all of the sudden you hear your tire go out. Though it is regular to obtain a flat, this might be annoying and frustrating. From time to time, it is sufficient to ruin the trip. Here are some methods which will help avoid such thing from taking place.

Tip # 1 – Watch out for shiny objects
On the road, you will find plenty of objects that can puncture your tire. It”s a must to keep your eyes peeled to prevent issues like broken glass, nails, sharp rocks, and wire. After you see a shiny stuff ahead within the highway, do not drive on it. Glass for example can get stuck in the tire and work its way to cause the tire to lose air. It is a good thought to go off the bike and walk around spots that appear hazardous to your tires for instance a puddle.

Tip # 2 – Dislodge the embedded objects
When you suspect that you”ve hit some shiny stuff or some tiny rocks, get off your bike and stroke that portion of your glove which has a thick padding towards the tire whilst turning it a couple of times. Performing that may dislodge whatever object has been embedded into the tire just before it goes deeper and trigger the tire to lose air.

Tip # 3 – Check out your tires prior to and following you ride
Before you go out to ride your bike, check if there is certainly any puncture so that you don”t run the risk of getting a flat tire when you are already in the middle of nowhere. It is also a must to test the tires right after your ride. This way, you are able to apply the appropriate solution for the flat tire.

Tip # 4 – Patch minor cuts
For the duration of examination, in the event you discover a cut or puncture, get the debris out of the tire and close the hole employing adhesive or super glue. Then let the air out just before pumping it once more. You are able to re-inflate the tire working with the classic frame pump. Greater but, make use of CO2 cartridges. These gas cartridges contain pressurized carbon dioxide that can re-inflate a flat tire in a matter of seconds. It”s also really easy and can very easily be bought on-line. It could be an excellent habit to bring a canister or two of pressurized CO2 so you”ll constantly be prepared in the event that your tire becomes flat.

Tip # 5 – Use tire liners
As an alternative to cutting up old tires, purchase tire liners that had been created for adding a layer of thickness and therefore protection against achievable punctures and cuts which you might encounter in the course of your biking activity.

Tip # 6 – Obtain high quality tires
It could be intelligent to buy top quality tires that are more resistant to punctures. Though it would cost you much more cash upfront, the investment could be worth it. You also save oneself from the hassle and trouble of fixing a flat tire.

I’m a female cyclist and have been riding for just over a year.

Something that I’ve found incredibly frustrating is how hard it is to find cycling clothing specifically for women. There seems to be very little choice of Women’s cycling jerseys and very little choice of Women’s cycling Shorts.

The Great Britain Team Women won 5 medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and 5 medals at the 2010 Track World Championships, women’s cycling is one of the most successful and fastest growing sports in the country and yet the manufacturers seem to ignore this.

Spanish Fiestas Make Your Trip Complete

Planning on visiting Spain? Whatever else you want to do, you should make sure you attend at least one “fiesta.” There are several traditional festivals held in Spain throughout the year, celebrating different events, and the joy and excitement involved will stay with you for a long time to come. Below we list just a few.

• Travel Spain: Sanfermines

This event is more commonly known by its English title: the Running of the Bulls. The Festival of San Fermin in Pamplona starts on July 7th of every year and lasts for a week. Each morning men, wearing the traditional white shirt and red sash, take to the streets, trying to outrun the bulls behind them. There’s more to it than just the bulls, of course. You’ll find carnivals and ferris wheels during the day, (as well as “drunken revellers”.). At night the Comparsa de Gigantes – gigantic puppets – are paraded through the streets, accompanied by brass bands. The festival culminates at midnight on July 14 at the Plaza Consistorial, where people congregate to sing the traditional mournful notes of the “Pobre de Mí”.

Similar festivals on a smaller scale are held in Tudela (July 24th – 28th), Estella (first Saturday in August), Tafalla (August 20th – 25th), and Sanguesa (September 11th – 17th).

• Travel Spain: Semana Santa

Almost a million people will pour into Seville during Easter Week to witness the processions of this holy festival, which begins on Palm Sunday and culminates on Eastern Sunday.

In the 16th century, the Catholic church decided that the Passion of Christ should be brought home to the common people through the medium of art. The Church commissioned the best artists to craft the holy figures out of wood and costume them in the richest of fabrics. They then achieved pride of place in front of the parades winding through the city. Today, 57 “brotherhoods” march through the city from their church to the Cathedral of Seville and back.

If you’d like to see the Semana Santa you must make reservations years in advance. It is that popular.

• Travel Spain: Feria de Abril

Just a couple of weeks after Semana Santa, tourists will pour back into the capital city of Andalusia for the Feria de Abril. Perhaps the most visited tourist spot in Seville is the city’s cathedral, the Catedral de Santa María de la Sede. – the largest Roman Catholic cathedral in the world, and the largest medieval Gothic religious edifice as well. Construction began in 1402, it was completed in the 1600s. Facing this cathedral is the Alcázar, or Moorish Palace. Construction on this building began in 1181 and continued for over 500 years.

In addition to its architecture and its Barber, Seville is famous for its two festivals held within weeks of each other, the Easter Holy Week, (Semana Santa), and the April Fair or Feria de Abril.

Flamenco dancing and bull-fighting. That’s what you’ll find at the Feria de Abril. There are no set dates for the festival – the exact dates are not decided until December, but its going to take place some time in April!

Flamenco: beautiful women in flowing dresses, slim men in tight-fitting white and black, clapping, stomping, and the classical guitar.

Bull-fighting: The flamenco dancing starts in the evening. During the day, revelers can get tickets to see the traditional Spanish “corrida.” Several fights take place each day.

This festival takes place in a huge area on the far bank of the Guadalquivir River. You’ll recognize it immediately because of row upon row of tents which are temporarily built on the fairground. There are two sections of these tents – one an essentially private area for the hundreds of Spanish families who congregate to celebrate, and the other section for the tourist.

• Travel Spain: Las Fallas de San José

Seville is way down in the south of Spain. But Valencia is located on its eastern, Mediterranean coast, overlooking the Gulf of Valencia.

If you’re in Spain in the spring, then Valencia is the place to go. For ten days in March – from March 13-19, you’ll want to attend Las Fallas de San José. The Fallas are gigantic models made out of papier mache, wood and wax. Models are chosen from Spanish social and political current affairs. After the ten days of celebrations the fallas are burnt on the final night to the accompaniment of cheers and fireworks.

• Travel Spain: Romeria Vikinga

If you like a bit of action with your festivals, you’ll want to visit Catoira in the region of Pontevedra, Galicia. On August 3 of each year, they hold the Romeria Vikinga. It’s a festival that’s not concerned with religion at all, but with a reenactment of a Viking raid on the Spanish coast.

Catoira looks out over the North Atlantic Ocean. In the reenactment, a Viking longship sails into view to attack the remains of the ‘Torres de Oeste’ – ‘Towers of the East’. Usually 30 armed ‘Vikings’ come ashore and fight each other, calling for wine. After the reenactment, a feast of red wine and seafood is devoured, to the accompaniment of dancing and folksongs.
